Tutankhamen

Created in sewn cross stitch on 14 Aida material, the finished piece measures 25cm x 24cm and has over 30,000 individual cross stitches.

The project took approximately two years to fully complete.

The design was taken from the photo on the Deluxe Paint II software ( Electronic Arts) packaging that was released in the late 1980’s for the Amiga 500 computer.

It was on my Amiga500 that I wrote a program to transfer the digital photo into a cross stitch pattern. This I did by taking each pixel on the imported photo of Tutankhamen has a single cross stitch to enable me to accurately choose the right coloured skeins and place in the correct position. Sadly I no longer have the Amiga500, the program I wrote or the twelve page printout that the pattern produced.
